My path across Canada

"For my part, I travel not to go anywhere, but to go. I travel for travel's sake. The great affair is to move."

-Robert Louis Stevenson-

When I started thinking about this trip, I planned to cross the country from west to east, but this itinerary made me go right through my hometown. It would have taken me some extra motivation to continue my journey after getting to my hometown. Also, it was very important to me that my entire family be there for both my departure and my arrival. I therefore decided to leave from and arrive in my hometown of Saint-Lambert- de-Lauzon. As a result, the trip will be split and include a flight from St John's to Vancouver.

I also chose to go south of the Great Lakes in the interest of security. The road north of Lake Superior has a reputation for being dangerous for cyclists because of its lack of shoulders and heavy truck traffic. I will cross Lake Michigan between Manitowoc and Ludington.

Because I want to leave room for adventure, I have planned this trip with ample flexibility. Only the departure date and the plane ticket are fixed. Otherwise, I'll let the weather and the inspiration of the moment dictate where I sleep and the exact date of my return.
